Yellowstone

We entered and camped at the town of “West Yellowstone” about 20 ft. outside the park.  All campsites inside the park were already reserved.  At night we could hear the wolves howling -- later found out those were the ones housed in an area nearby.

While in Yellowstone, we saw “Old Faithful” and we thought it was anti-climatic based on the publicity about it.   There are other geysers in the park which are more spectacular, but “Old Faithful” is one that has most predictable eruption and draws a very large crowd.

We saw the “Old Faithful Inn”  which is a rustic style lodge and has log and wood shingle exterior with tree trunks forming the interior.  This hotel was built in 1904 and since that time, the bark has come off of the tree trunks and they appear to be polished with oil.

We happened to meet a man from Texas who is related to a cousin of Archie’s.  He  told us he and his wife had worked in Yellowstone for 13 years and he still had not seen it all.  It’s a big park.
