The Tillamook Air Museum is located in a blimp hangar constructed at the beginning of World War II. The hangar is over 15 stories tall and covers seven acres --- large enough to play six football games. This hangar is capable of storing eight blimps that were used to patrol the Oregon coast and escort troop and supply ships during the war. Due to shortage of steel, the hangar is a wooden structure. It currently houses a large number of vintage, military and experimental aircraft. There was originally two hangars constructed and one was lost in a fire while storing hay.
While in Tillamook, we also toured the “Tillamook Cheese Factory”.
