The Grand Canyon truly is over-whelming of the senses just due to it huge size. And it is beautiful and the color changes with the time of the day. You never saw so many cameras and people trying to snap that extra special photo.
Archie and I went outside after dinner when it was dark... and during a thunder storm to try to snap a picture of the distant lightening. Many, many people were trying to snap the lightening and when there was a bright flash, everyone would ooooh and ahhhh.
Since August 3 was our 50th wedding anniversary, we stayed in Grand Canyon at the “El Tovar Lodge”. I was so excited to stay there at the historic hotel. Theodore Roosevelt, Einstein and Zane Gray have stayed there in years past and it is on the rim of the canyon. The hotel was built in 1905. We just loved the atmosphere. You cannot believe the most excellent service and attention to the every need of the guest. We had dinner in the dining room. We had a suite and it was on the third floor corner which gave us an absolutely huge balcony -- had two tables and all the lounge chairs to go with it. With room to spare --- like we really needed it!!! But we did have a view of the canyon. We would recommend this to anyone. The feel of the past was really felt when we learned there was no internet. You can look it up on the interest by searching “El Tovar Lodge Grand Canyon”.
